What is CIRAT?

The Center for Intelligence Research, Analysis, and Training (CIRAT) offers students hands-on experience and resources to develop marketable skills in the dynamic fields of intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity. Students can join one of the four Guardian Programs—including the new Quantum Forge Generative AI Lab—or one of the three Production Labs at the beginning of their academic career. They typically start in an analyst position, gaining foundational skills through practical, project-based work. As they demonstrate proficiency and leadership, some students have the opportunity to progress to a lead analyst position, where they guide and mentor their peers. The most experienced and dedicated students may even become a lab or program director, taking on a significant leadership role. Each program and lab is fully student-run, providing a unique opportunity for leadership and peer-to-peer collaboration. The work produced by the students is consistently reviewed by a professor or faculty member, ensuring high-quality output and providing expert guidance.

Annually, the CIRAT provides over 150 students with real world experience by servicing over 50 clients, across multiple sectors. These organizations include:

  • national security groups

  • U.S. government agencies

  • law enforcement

  • private sector businesses

This gives students valuable, marketable skills in competitive intelligence, strategic intelligence, tactical intelligence, data analytics, and cybersecurity before they even graduate.
